At this time of year when the back to school panic purchases and crack of dawn school runs start to creep back in after a long summer … we could really do with some relaxation!
Here are our top tips for de-stressing your home environment, getting rid of the clutter that you’ve been looking at for far too long and adding some simple touches to make your home more peaceful and calming!
De-clutter!
Having a build up of clutter is never good… so have a clear out! Fill some bin bags and remove the bits and pieces that you don’t need! You can always donate unwanted items to our charity partner Keech who are always grateful for any furniture/clothes.
If you really are prepared for a re-vamp build in some floor to ceiling cupboards for storing everything away and keeping the room looking clear and zen!
Add flowers and indoor plants
Indoor plants have many benefits! They can help clean the air, boost your mood, deter illness and improve concentration … plus they add some colour and life to the room. We think stock up!
Light candles
Candles are widely used for their soothing and healing properties. If therapists are using them in their treatment rooms, why shouldn’t you be using them in your home! Choose a soft scented candle to relax you and to give your room gentle lighting and ambience!
Bring in natural sunlight and cosy lamps
Another way to make your room more calming is to dim down bright and overpowering lights and try to bring in as much natural light as possible. If the room does not get much natural light, introduce some cosy lamps to keep the space feeling warm and relaxing
Calming paint colours
For a real change – switch up the colour of your room! Blue is the most common relaxing colour but all dusty and earthy colours can be soothing and set a calm canvas for your room.
The epitome of relaxation – the BATH
One of the most important rooms for relaxing has got to be the bathroom. Where better to kick back and unwind after making these home improvements?
Now to add some bath oils or salts and to try not to think of the chaos outside!
